The only secondary aluminium smelter in Sweden and the largest Scandinavian supplier of recycled casting alloys, operating since 1949. The plant remelts approx. 70,000 t of scrap a year (approx. 285 tonnes per day) and is the only one in Sweden that uses 100% recycled aluminium as feedstock – post-production and post-consumer scrap collected by the sister company Stena Recycling, including material separated at the Stena Nordic Recycling Center in Halmstad. It produces die casting alloys (EN AB-46000, 46100, 47100, 44300, 43400 and others), permanent mould and sand alloys, and its own Stenal 445/460 alloys and the Rheocool line for rheocasting. Part of production goes to foundries as liquid metal in insulated ladles at a temperature of approx. 660 °C – including to Ljunghäll – which eliminates remelting at the customer. The furnace type is not disclosed.
