The largest Dutch scrap preparation plant, equipped with its own high-efficiency granulator with separation lines that split ferrous from non-ferrous metals; the company declares recovery of 95–100% of the material and over 150 types of secondary raw materials produced. The complex in Almelo covers 60,000 m2 and lies on the Twente Canal, which gives water transport; the second location in Beverwijk on the North Sea Canal has a quay 275 m long and serves as an international hub. The aluminium stream comes, among others, from the dismantling of retired aircraft carried out jointly with AELS at Twente airport and from demolitions and vehicles. The plant does not carry out smelting or refining – sorted fractions are sold to remelters. The company was taken over by ArcelorMittal and today operates under the ArcelorMittal Riwald Recycling name. The company does not disclose the share of aluminium in throughput or the capacity of the aluminium line.
