A plant taken over by Alstom together with Bombardier Transportation in 2021, one of the largest regional rolling stock building centres in Europe. The car body is a product in which aluminium has almost entirely replaced steel: a welded structure of large extruded profiles provides stiffness at a mass lower by about one third. Alstom declares a share of recovered materials and designs vehicles for recyclability of over 90 percent of mass, but does not publish the secondary aluminium content of the structure. Rolling stock is a product with a thirty-year life cycle, which postpones the return of the metal to circulation by a generation.
