Speira Recycling Services Grevenbroich (dawniej Real Alloy Germany)
operating- Status
- operating
The recycling plant in Grevenbroich passed to Speira with the acquisition of Real Alloy Europe (agreement 21.02.2022, closing 31.03.2023) and forms a separate unit from Speira's rolling mill there and the group head office. It specialises in so-called low grades – heavily contaminated scrap and dross arising in melting. In July 2024 Speira announced the purchase of four salt-based tilting rotary furnaces with a capacity of up to 25 t each for Grevenbroich and Töging for a total of approx. EUR 11 million, together with charging machines, hoods, thermal afterburners and infrastructure; the first of them, named “Bernhard”, started in Grevenbroich in May 2025, the second was planned for May 2026. The furnaces are adapted to run on hydrogen and are to increase metal yield from difficult fractions. The capacity of an individual plant is not published – Speira states only the group's total recycling capacity of 650 kt per year at 11 plants in Germany and Norway.
