Ranshofen

- operating
HAI operates a casthouse-remelter in Ranshofen alongside its own extrusion plant. The company states 250 kt of annual casting capacity for the two plants combined – Ranshofen and Sântana in Romania – without a breakdown by site, so the capacity for Ranshofen alone is not published; the trade press estimates it at approx. 200 kt, but no company document confirms this figure. The furnace fleet comprises three twin-chamber furnaces, a bath furnace with electromagnetic stirring and a tilting rotary furnace, which allows it to accept short and long scrap, clean and contaminated: painted profiles, oily turnings, dross and filings. The company puts the share of secondary materials in the charge at approx. 80%. Casting is carried out in Wagstaff AirSlip and LHC moulds, with inline degassing, ceramic filtration and full ultrasonic inspection; a chip briquetting press was commissioned in July 2025. Casthouse operations are certified to the ASI Performance Standard.
