Greece’s largest aluminium rolling mill, at the 61st km of the Athens–Lamia national road in Oinofyta; the company gives the plant’s rolling capacity as 240 kt per year after an investment completed in 2010. The recycling part is based on the CANAL centre launched in 2013, which accepts, buys and bales used aluminium cans – the declared throughput is approx. 2,800 tonnes of cans a year. The plant operates two melting furnaces with delacquering, adapted to scrap feedstock. The scrap melting capacity of the rolling foundry itself has not been disclosed, which is why only the documented CANAL throughput is given in the capacity field. In 2020–2023 the company carried out an investment programme comprising a four-high hot rolling mill (approx. EUR 150 million), a new cold rolling mill (2022) and a painting line (2023). Elval is the aluminium rolling division of ElvalHalcor S.A. and the only producer of aluminium rolled products in Greece; the company gives a capacity of 240 kt per year for the Oinofyta plant. The range covers products for packaging, transport and the automotive industry, HVAC-R, construction, power generation, lithography and general industry, sold in over 90 countries. The group runs 15 plants, including related finishing companies: Vepal (strip painting in Thebes), Symetal (foil in Oinofyta and coating in Mandra), Anoxal (foundry and recycling in Agios Thomas) and Elval Colour (composite panels in Agios Thomas). Elval stresses fifty years of experience in rolling and recycling and its own technology centre.
