The largest aluminium refining and recycling plant in France, with a declared production of 60–70 kt of alloys a year on three rotary furnaces. The feedstock is post-production and post-consumer scrap and aluminium dross, and the catalogue includes about a hundred alloys sold under the AFFIMET and CALYPSO brands. The plant was established in 1966 as Affifrance, took the name Affimet in 1971, belonged from 1983 to the Pechiney group, was sold in 2007 to the British Recovco, and after its collapse in July 2009 the assets were taken over by Auréa. The main market is automotive foundries in France and Europe; approx. half of sales go to export. Since the takeover by Auréa, the F1 foundry has reduced CO2 emissions by 30%. In July 2023 Auréa announced giving up production of alloy ingots in favour of 800 kg sows for remelting and tolling, and described its 2025 results as heavily burdened by disruption of the aluminium market.
